Suomi / Englanti :
Uskomattoman tyytyväinen
Perhe, lehtihaastattelu :
Ostimme talon vuonna 1995, joten olemme asuneet talossa 25 vuotta.
Eternit-julkisivusta huoltovapaaseen OnceWalliin. Huippuluokan eternit-julkisivuremontti! OnceWall-arvostelu!
Fantastically satisfied
There is no doubt that the family is incredibly satisfied. And if the customer is satisfied, OnceWall is satisfied 🙂
The Ahonen family consists of Marie, Pekka and our adult children Linnéa, 22 years old, and Elsa, 19 years old. Marie works as an economist, Pekka is a farrier, Linnéa is studying at university and still lives at home, while Elsa, who has graduated, is about to move out. We bought the house in 1995, so we have lived in the house for 25 years.
From eternit facade to maintenance-free OnceWall. Eternit facade renovation of the highest class! A OnceWall review!
We live outside a small village called Näsum which is located in north-eastern Skåne, very close to the border with Blekinge. It is a small horse farm located in an open landscape all by itself surrounded by fields and meadows along a small gravel road. A truly rural idyll where the horses graze in their large pastures and it is quiet and nice. A lot of things revolve around horses in the family and it is mainly the eldest daughter Linnéa who competes in dressage, jumping and eventing with her horses. /

When you chose the facade solution, what were you thinking? What was most important? How did you think? What was it that decided that it was OnceWall?
When we bought the house 25 years ago, the top priority was to build a stable and get the outdoor environment in order. After a few years, we renovated the toilet and refreshed the inside of the main house and replaced all the windows (except one) as they were very bad. The house had an eternit facade, which in itself was in very good condition, but it didn’t look very nice and didn’t do the house justice in any way. In addition, the house was not particularly well insulated and in the open landscape where the house is located, it blows very often and a lot, which means that we quickly lose heat. We thought for many years about replacing the eternit and insulating the house, but what kind of facade should we have? Pekka was absolutely convinced that it would be a wooden facade because he thought it was the only thing that suited the type of house, while Marie was not at all keen on spending her vacation maybe every 5 years repainting the house. None of us had found any other option on the market that would work and that we thought would suit our little house out in the meadows.
Years passed, we built a riding arena, sauna, outdoor boxes, a machine shed and generally refreshed the house, but there was no new facade./

At the beginning of this year, Marie was thinking about her plans for the summer. It was the beginning of the Corona year and “homeownership” was the order of the day. Pekka is self-employed and can never take any less continuous leave during the summer. Then the idea of replacing the facade came up seriously (again) and after Googling “maintenance-free facade” the Oncewall website appeared. After looking around at the pictures on the website and reading about the facade, Marie ordered some samples. When Pekka was told about it, he was skeptical at first, but once the samples appeared and he also looked at the website, he was on board. We got in very good contact with Niklas at Oncewall and also got a couple of addresses nearby that had the facade so we could see the facade on a house as if “live”. After looking at these houses, we were completely convinced that this was the facade we should have. We spoke to Niklas again, emailed pictures of our house, started thinking about how we would set up the facade and what type of facade we would have.
Our choice fell on Exklusiv, standing panel up to the eaves and above the horizontal panel. When we had sent all the info about dimensions and our choices, we waited for the quote from both Oncewall and our local hardware store for insulation and the material under the facade, how expensive would this be??? But when the quotes appeared, we could see that the price was reasonable and we quickly calculated that the heating cost would drastically decrease and we would not have to spend money and time on future maintenance. The choice was easy, it would be Oncewall!!

Tell us a little about how the actual assembly/work progressed.
The actual assembly of the facade is the easiest (and most fun) part of the facade replacement. First, you need good scaffolding and we were lucky enough to borrow scaffolding from an acquaintance and we also have a scaffolder in our family who has helped us with that.
Then the eternit will be demolished and sent to landfill, which is a separate procedure because it is not exactly healthy to work with. We were a little worried about what our house would look like when we had torn off the eternit facade and how much we would have to tear off and remove the old material. We were really lucky! Under the eternit, the old screed and insulation were very good, which meant that we could continue to screed and insulate the exterior wall of the house directly on top of this. Double insulation and an already straight wall – wow!
Pekka, who has been the construction manager in this, has been greatly helped by the information available on the Oncewall website and we have stopped many times and thought about how to make it right and look good. We will be able to enjoy the facade for many years.
